Michael Jones

    Michael Jones, tenor, performs nationwide as a soloist and chamber musician. Based in Philadelphia, Michael sings regularly with the Grammy award-winning choir, The Crossing. He sings throughout the country, including frequent appearances in his native Chicago and in Austin, TX with Grammy award-winning Conspirare. This coming season, Michael is excited to be performing with Grammy-nominated True Concord Voices and Orchestra, Bach@7 Choral Arts Philadelphia, Les Canards Chantants, and Alium Spiritum. In recent seasons, Michael has performed with Apollo’s Fire, Variant 6, ekmeles, VAE Cincinnati, The Thirteen, Madison Choral Project, Music of the Baroque, William Ferris Chorale, Grant Park Opera Chorus, The Bridge Ensemble, (co-founder of) Constellation Men’s Ensemble and Chorosynthesis. Last year, he made his debut as a soloist with The Philadelphia Orchestra for Pat Metheny and the American Beat. In addition, Michael has performed as the tenor soloist at Haverford University’s Carmina Burana. Michael has recorded on Parma, Albany, World Library Publications (WLP), and GIA.  Michael appears on the Grammy-nominated Bonhoeffer, released by the Crossing. He has performed on five Downbeat Award-winning recordings. Michael studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music for his Bachelors in Jazz Trumpet where he studied with Kim Pensyl, David Adams and Scott Belck. In addition, Michael studied at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music for his Masters in Jazz Trumpet under the tutelage of Victor Goines, Donald Nally, Brad Mason and Keven Keys.
